From analog-news at mailman.gofcc.org Fri Mar 7 09:20:14 2008 From: analog-news at mailman.gofcc.org (analog-news@mailman.gofcc.org) Date: Fri Mar 7 09:21:34 2008 Subject: [Analog-news] Analog News for the week of March 9 Message-ID: <489364387BFBC249A2ECF1C9D1CE2DE701444BEB@bach.gofcc.org> Hey Analog! ?A message from Will Walker (Analoger): I went with some analogers to the World Vision Experience in Livermore. As I walked through the Labyrinth hearing the stories of children in Africa who lost parents to AIDS, it helped change my perspective from being?an?observer to stepping onto the set of someone's life...."the love of many will grow cold"...sad to say that even after a powerful message like the one that Shadd (guest speaker) shared a couple Sunday's ago, they had to bring Africa to our backyard (just?one week later)?almost as a direct reminder to us that these problems are still waiting to be answered by God's people. I think that by looking at where Analog has been led to over and over is an outbound calling. All the pastors and members are going out. Whether to the?marginalized or to the four corners of?this world, this congregation is striving to live out the Analog3 things and I think we're being prepared and equipped to do those very things! Check it out at http://www.worldvisionexperience.org/ ??Wednesday, March 19th at 4:30pm at the picnic area next to the boathouse. Each person shared a scripture, or a story, or a struggle. During the Bible study we washed their clothing and let them shower in one of the rooms. We also ate dinner together and we were able to give out clothes to those who needed them. We basically had church in a motel." -Professor Greg Lagera (Analoger) ? Just wanted to let you know I had an incredible time feeding the homeless at the park tonight.? The Holy Spirit totally blessed me,? I felt more alive today than I have for a lot of?2008. Feeding the homeless was a blessing that is difficult to describe.?Simply filling the plate for someone who needs food, is such a basic almost primal need.?It's like saying, "here you go brother, God bless your meal." ?Every person served was getting the gospel through a simple gesture of service.??You could feel it in the people serving next to you.?It felt like bringing gifts to the alter, like fragrant offerings before the Lord. This is going to sound silly, but the whole process was a Holy endeavor.? People making and sharing food with those who simply needed it: men, women, and children. People living around us everyday who go unnoticed as we drive by in our comfortable cars and comfortable lives. At the end of the event a guy came up to me and said, "man I feel so good right now, I am going to go and crawl into my tent and fall asleep!"? I think that guy felt more love tonight than he had for a very long time. Simply through fellowship and a meal.?There was a real sense of serving Christ in such a simple way and that was the profound experience of it all. Thank you Analog, for creating a place that allows and supports this to happen. It was truly a blessing!?? ? Join us this Sunday at 10:30am in front of the church! ??Romans 5:1-11. Hope when we can't see it. ?The homeless community we serve would greatly benefit from a donated bike to help them get around town. If you have a spare adult size bike in good working order and would like to donate it to a person in need, please contact Brandon at simplerevolution@gmail.com to coordinate the donation. every 1st Sunday of each month! Our next ride your bike or walk to church day is Sunday April 6th. Questions or directions to any event? info@areyouanalog.org Be the Church! Doug Ingebretson Analog Community Pastor
