Hey Analog!
An experience from Dave Nothhelfer (at the homeless feeding every 3rd wednesday)...
Just wanted to let you know I had an incredible time feeding the homeless at the park tonight. The Holy Spirit totally blessed me, I felt more alive today than I have for a lot of 2008. Feeding the homeless was a blessing that is difficult to describe. Simply filling the plate for someone who needs food, is such a basic almost primal need. It's like saying, "here you go brother, God bless your meal."
Every person served was getting the gospel through a simple gesture of service. You could feel it in the people serving next to you. It felt like bringing gifts to the alter, like fragrant offerings before the Lord.
This is going to sound silly, but the whole process was a Holy endeavor. People making and sharing food with those who simply needed
it: men, women, and children. People living around us everyday who go unnoticed as we drive by in our comfortable cars and comfortable lives.
At the end of the event a guy came up to me and said, "man I feel so good right now, I am going to go and crawl into my tent and fall asleep!" I think that guy felt more love tonight than he had for a very long time. Simply through fellowship and a meal. There was a real sense of serving Christ in such a simple way and that was the profound experience of it all.
Thank you Analog, for creating a place that allows and supports this to happen. It was truly a blessing!
<Baptism> Join us this Sunday at 10:30am in front of the church!
<Sunday in Analog> Romans 5:1-11. Hope when we can't see it.
<Got a Bike?> The homeless community we serve would greatly benefit from a donated bike to help them get around town. If you have a spare adult size bike in good working order and would like to donate it to a person in need, please contact Brandon at simplerevolution at gmail.com to coordinate the donation.
<Go Green Day> every 1st Sunday of each month! Our next ride your bike or walk to church day is Sunday April 6th.
